It is with great satisfaction that we inform you that our studio, LLD, brought home two awards as winners in Mexico City, all given in the Biennial celebration of lighting design.
The first ward was for the Bahá’í Temple, and the second for the “Mitos de Roma” exhibit at the Cultural Centre of the Palace La Moneda.
The other two winners were Maurici Gines of ARTEC 3 for the Birkat Itzjak temple in Mexico City, and Rafael Gallego of Aureolighting, for the CEPSA Service Station in Arevalo, Spain.
There were also two honourable mentions for: Carlos Fortes for the Ara Vartanian jewellery shop in London, and another for Maurici Gines of ARTEC 3 for the Olha Eixample Hotel in Barcelona.
The third Ibero American Lighting Design Biennial was organized by the editorial ILUMINET, and held in Mexico on Thursday the 29th, and Friday the 30th of November. The main objective of the event is to recognise, publicise and divulge the very best lighting design projects in the Iberian America territory, and on this occasion firms and studios in Latin America, Spain and Portugal submitted 166 projects in total. From the total number 50 were chosen for inclusion in the book “Lighting Design in Iberian America” 2018, available on Amazon as of the 12th of December.
For this particular edition the international judge panel consisted of the lighting designers:
Kai Diederichsen (MX), Stephan Horn (GR), Douglas Leonard Jr. (CH), Monica Lobo (BR), the editor at LUMNIET Mr. Luis Juan Lopez Barreiro (MX) and the Mexican architect Mr. Juan Pablo Serrano. The jury mentioned that all the awarded projects are examples of: technical and trade mastery, profound knowledge of the profession, originality, sensitivity and respect for context.
