Editorial

article by: Pascal Chautard
translation: Manuela Tenorio

In this first publication, Pascal Chautard tells us about the process that led us to create “our look”.

At the beginning of 2020, a few months after the start of the period of “social unrest” and just before the arrival of the SARS COV-2 pandemic in Chile, we made the decision to rethink the image of our organization. Our logo that had existed since the inception of Limarí in 1993, no longer communicated our essence.  It did not effectively represent who we are today. This reinvention process was developed throughout the year in collaboration with the fantastic Peli Jannas and Cintia Villalobos from Somos Real.

The re-design of our visual identity quickly led us to rethink all of our communication in a more comprehensive way, re-design our website (we thank our star programmer Alfredo Duarte his tremendous support at all time), rethink our social medias, and obviously the content.

On one hand, quarantine in March 2020, working at home, and few client projects, allowed us to dedicate more time and energy than would have been impossible in “normal” times to this process.

On the other hand, both the Chilean “social unrest” and the pandemic made us reflect as people, as professionals and citizens.

These events led us to reaffirm of our values of social and environmental responsibility, of our perception of being part of the community in a broad sense, and allowing us to contribute with our work, with care, with generosity.

We feel the need to share with our clients, our colleagues, and the professionals we interact with, these values, our processes, some victories and some failures, some reflections and some opinions.  This is our way to contribute a grain of sand about the importance of light in our lives, on the planet, in our cities, in built spaces, and in our workplaces.

We also believe it is important to share the internal and external design collaborative processes that are key in the development of projects, as well as our objective of seeking the happiness and wellbeing of our team and the other teams we work with.

These reflections led us to create the link “our look” in our website.  This “editorial” is our first publication of 2021.

In this section we will share our experiences as well as invite colleagues, lighting and other professionals to comment about topics that we think are relevant and to share their opinions.

Also, we will periodically share some projects and processes, trying to open part of these projects, successes and mistakes, investigations and technical solutions, hoping that this information can be sources of inspiration and knowledge for others.

We hope that the contents that we are preparing will be of interest to all of you and we are looking forward your comments, opinions and questions.
